Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)
Buying or Selling a home, you are now required to provide and Energy Performance Certificate whenever a property is :
- Built
- Sold
- Rented
You must have an EPC for potential buyers or tenants before you can market you property.
An EPC contains:
- information about the properties energy use and typical energy costs
- recommendations about how to reduce energy use and save money.

The Certificate provides ratings from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient).
The Certificate is valid for 10 years.

There are some buildings that are exempt from requiring a certificate which include
- Places of worship
- Temporary buildings ( buildings that will be used for less that 2 years)
- Industrial Sites, workshops and non-residential agricultural buildings that don't use a lot of energy
- Stand alone building with a total useable floor space of less than 50m2
